SANTA BARBARA: CIO magazine names IMAGE-X a 1999 Web Business 50/50 winner for its online business excellence. "We are honored to be recognized for our E-Filing.com site. We have been perfecting it for the last year and it looks like we've reached our target. It's always fulfilling to get noticed for hard work," states Dr. Mohammed Shaikh, IMAGE-X's chairman. Over 800 web sites were evaluated and only 50 of them were chosen to win the award.

Part of the Internet and E-Commerce explosion, E-filing is the state-of-the-art method for attorneys to process legal documents quicker and easier while dramatically reducing costs. This technology allows the courts to operate more efficiently, thereby lowering costs, resulting in better service to the public. In addition, E-Filing allows the court to reduce paper handling by using digital files. The electronic process allows documents to be submitted 24 hours a day.

Each year, an estimated 25 million court filings and another 25 million non-court related filings are made all across the United States. The total cost of filing these documents amounts to billions of dollars. Using Internet-based E-Filing technology can dramatically reduce these costs.

Courthouses across the country are moving toward electronic filing. States such as California, Texas and New Jersey already accept electronic documents statewide with increasing numbers of counties and states participating every day. This is definitely the trend and it's here to stay. It is estimated that by the year 2002, the lions share of the nation's courthouses will be processing files digitally, according to Dr. Mohammed Shaikh, chairman of IMAGE-X, developers of E-Filing.com.

THE PRODUCT

The technology, developed over the last seven years, is based on IMAGE-X's proprietary software modules (Managed Information Document Services - MINDS, and Data Broker). This software uses Internet-based filing, storage, and retrieval modules. E-Filing.com can also be useful to other government agencies and organizations e.g. business office licensing, corporation filings, etc.

With the advent of the 21st century, the use of Web technology has become an essential component of any organization's strategic plan. CIO honors the 100 sites that have raised the caliber for online quality and challenged other organizations to uncover the potential of the Net. Each year CIO magazine recognizes 50 Internet and 50 Intranet sites that go beyond customary Web commerce practices to deliver outstanding business value. The third annual CIO award program distinguishes organizations around the world that have taken a distinct approach toward the use of the Internet or intranet in their business. "This year's winners show that more and more operational capability, direct customer contact and bottom-line business value is migrating to the Web. It's impossible to ignore the depth of the transformation that's occurring in enterprises of every shape and size," says CIO Editorial Director, Lew McCreary.

Winners are selected by a panel of CIO magazine editors, writers, art designers and Web development experts. Judges evaluate hundreds of nominated sites for their ability to use innovative Web techniques to deliver greater business value. In particular, the panel focuses on finding sites that successfully integrate creative design and high quality technical attributes. The judges measure how well the blend of technology and design contributes to the organization's overall business objective as well as the site's ability to meet the needs of the target audience.
